This manual is designed to function like a product documentation portal exported into Word. It keeps the earlier task-led entry points, but adds the level of operational detail that researchers, contributors, and maintainers need when they are actually working inside the platform

**Read this manual in two ways**

  * Read chapter 1 and chapter 2 first if you are new to HORTUS and need orientation before you begin.
  * Jump directly to the chapter that matches your task if you already know the feature you need.
  * Use the screenshots, CTA tables, and workflow notes together: they explain not only what a screen looks like, but also what action to take next.
  * Use the role notes carefully. Many features change slightly depending on whether you are a visitor, a signed-in user, a contributor, a maintainer, or a moderator.
