===== Role activation after registration =====

**Important: registration alone does NOT unlock contributor features.**

HORTUS separates account creation from role activation so that platform administrators can assign the appropriate permissions. This matters because many actions — such as creating a new resource, publishing a project page, submitting metadata, or moderating a queue — depend on the role attached to your identity rather than on sign-in alone.


==== Activation checklist ====

  * Register or sign in successfully first.
  * Write to service-desk@itserr.it and state the role you need.
  * Explain the work you want to perform: for example, creating resources, managing a project, or contributing metadata.
  * VRE Manager invites the user to join VRE (see.Hortus Administration Manual)
  * User accepts invitation and VRE Manager receives a notification
  * VRE Manager requires user to access for the first time in HORTUS
  * VRE Manager can set correct roles for user (see. Hortus Administration Manual)
  * After user can sign in again and verify whether the relevant creation or moderation actions are now visible.
