Use the “Create Resource” entry point to choose how the new resource should created — manual entry, DOI-assisted route, upload primary document route, or Extract from PDF — then move through the stepper until the DRAFT record is ready for moderation. There are four paths to create your research resource:

• Fill resource manually: this is the most complete blank-start route: you type the core record yourself in Step 1, you may add references in Step 2 if needed, and you complete metadata as usual in Step 3.
• Prefill resource with DOI: this route starts from a DOI lookup instead of a blank record, so Step 1 is typically faster as it loads resource metadata from a DOI container and more review-oriented; Step 2 can still be used to manage source references, and Step 3 remains the same metadata-selection stage.
• Upload primary document: this route starts from a file from your folders workspace as the primary source; If you have already stored metadata at file level, you need to complete just the missing descriptive fields in Step 1, you can still use Step 2 for references, and Step 3 is unchanged, but the route is especially oriented toward attaching a main file to the draft.
• Extract from PDF — this route starts from an existing PDF file and is intended for cases where the file already contains usable bibliographic information; the HORTUS extraction using Grobid pre-fills key fields such as title, abstract, sources or references so Step 1 becomes more of a check-and-correct phase, while Step 2 and Step 3 continue normally.

• Create → describe → attach → review → submit

Resources must be properly described to be usable.
